Late-coming Policy

Unfortunately of late, we have noticed a large rise in the number of patients who miss or who are late for appointments without notifying us. This has a huge impact on the practice staff but also other patients. Late-coming leads to clinics running late, which means patients who have turned up on time for their appointment, are often inconvenienced. When you arrive at the surgery, please use the self-check in screen where possible and look for the floor that your clinician is on. Waiting in a queue at the reception desk is unfortunately out of our control.

We have decided to implement the below policy:

  • 0-5 minutes late- we will endeavor to see you in order of your appointment time.
  • 5-9 minutes late- you will still be seen as soon as possible when the clinician can squeeze you in, however, this may mean that you need to wait until the end of the clinic.
  • 10 minutes late- unfortunately this will go down as a missed appointment and you are unlikely to be seen and will need to call another day for an appointment.

Our “Did not attend” policy remains unchanged:

  • 1st missed appointment- initial reminder letter
  • 2nd missed appointment- second reminder/warning letter
  • 3rd missed appointment- we may have to remove you from our practice list

Our appointments for all clinicians are in high demand, so if you are going to be late or are unable to make an appointment, please notify us by phone or email so that appointment can be used by another patient. Wasted appointments cost the NHS a huge amount of money every year.

Thank you for your understanding.
